SRCFC to Help East Africa's FIRST Indoor Climbing Gym Climb

BlueSky will provide a new venue for team-building and leadership training, and the only climbing gym in East Africa (and 1 of 10 in the whole continent of Africa). They will be breaking into a new market of climbers, developing the sport, and discovering new talent and styles.

blueskygym.jpgAndrew Conway,, is our contact and he shared this, “We are very excited about the project and how we can use our love for the outdoors, adventure and climbing as a way to share Christ. The building is 6000sq feet and about 28 feet tall. It is in one of Nairobi's most popular shopping and eating centers.”

If you have been with Solid Rock for a while, you may recall that we had a U.S. member who thought it would be good to bring a Kenyan member here so he would be able to be trained in climbing skills. Some donations came in for that, the Kenyan hasn’t been able to secure a visa to come to the USA. So with the approval of the board and others involved, we are now going to direct those funds to this ministry in Kenya and the Kenyan member will be able to connect with Andrew to be trained there. SRCFC’s starting gift is $500.

They have made a great start on the gym but also still have needs.  As far as gear, they are still short on climbing shoes, chalk, and ATCs, but any gear will be highly appreciated and put to use. Additionally, you could give directly to the project via their website.
