SRCFC is participating as a sponsor
The Annual “Spring Thing” will be held on Saturday, April 28. This is a trail building and maintenance workday and once again, SRCFC is a sponsor of the event. Additionally, Calvin Landrus is heading up the food crew. We will be having a booth that needs to be manned from 3:00 to 7:00 pm. Please make yourself available to be there! The crew will be doing coffee and goodies at the start of the day and dinner in the evening.

The 26th Annual Spring Thing will be held on Saturday, April 28th. This is a trail-building and maintenance work day and once again, SRCFC is a sponsor of the event. What follows is a run-down of the weekend. Feel free to be involved at any level that works for you. Just let me know when to expect you.
PREP DAY: Mary and I are heading-up the food crew again. We will meet Friday night, 4/28, for food prep time at 6:00 pm, lasting a couple of hours, at the Rex House (last house on the right just before you reach the turnaround in the parking lot) at Smith Rock. Bring cutting knives and cutting boards. Pizza will be available. Plan to eat with us even if you come late as SRCFC is providing the pizza.
COFFEE, GOODIES, SET-UP: We take care of the set-up of registration area and provide the coffee, goodies, etc. I could use someone to arrive at 5:30 am with me. This person can go to do work a project after set-up or can stay and help with transitioning everything to the Rex House.
WORK TIME: On Saturday, you are encouraged to get involved with the work day. Different work-projects will begin at 8:00 am and end in early afternoon. All tools and work gloves will be provided. This is a great time to rub shoulders and be a witness. Afterwards you may have some time to climb. Let me know if you need a partner.
AFTERNOON PREP: At about noon, I will need some volunteers to help event site sit-up and later some food prep. I will need THREE helpers (one is already secured). We also need several croc pots if you can provide one.
OUTREACH BOOTH: We have a great time having climbers come to us, engaging them and offer literature as we sign them up for a gear giveaway. The booth will be open from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
DINNER SERVING AND CLEAN-UP: We need a crew of 8 people to serve dinner and then help with clean-up. You will need to arrive at 4:30 pm to get ready to serve dinner at 5:00 pm. Instead of having you eat dinner first, we will have you rotate into meal line during the meal. That will simplify our process. As soon as serving is done, we will do clean-up. THE SERVING AND CLEAN-UP IS THE BIGGEST NEED!!!
SOLID ROCKERS FROM OUT OF THE AREA (and locals too): Again this year, there will be folks coming to the Spring Thing from out of the Central Oregon area. We will be camping at Skull Hollow, starting on Friday night. It’s a great place to camp even if you really don’t need to camp because you are a local. Let me know if you want to join us. If you want us to reserve you a spot for your car at Skull Hollow, please let us know. We will need your name; car make, color and license number; number of folks in your car.
CLIMBING AND WORSHIP: In addition to the Spring Thing happenings, we will be climbing together Friday afternoon and Sunday. Sunday morning, we will start with a short worship time at Skull Hollow Campground starting at 8:00 am.
