National Conference at Red River Gorge: Nov. 6-9

2014 National Conference at Red River Gorge, Kentucky
November 6th-9th

OVERVIEW: National Conferences are traditionally our largest gatherings. You will have a chance to get to know more Solid Rockers and do ministry together with folks from many places.

PRESENTERS: We are very pleased to announce that Mark and Janelle Smiley have agreed to be our key-note presenters at the National Conference. For those not familiar with their accomplishments, they have as a married couple climbed forty-four of the routes made famous by the book, "Fifty Classic Climbs of North America." Their goal is to do what has never-been-done-before and climb all fifty. You can read reports and see videos of the climbs they have done (and attempted) at They will be holding climbing clinics on Saturday, presenting on their climbing adventures on Saturday night and sharing some of their spiritual journey Sunday morning.

The Climbing: Red River Gorge has some of the country's best moderate (less than 5.10) to hard sport climbing with the great trad thrown-in. The climbing is on sandstone and is often steep. Check out the climbing at

The Camping: The Conference will be held at Lago Linda Hideaway.  Cabins can be rented on a first come, first serve basis and you are required to make these reservations on your own with Linda.  Camping is available with a shelter cooking area and costs $5 person per night payable at the event. Finally, staying in other locations in the area works too.

The Meetings: Morning and evening gatherings will be inside out of the weather, so the cooler temps and longer nights of late fall won't be an issue. The schedule starts early as we will be on day-light savings time with sunrise about 7:00 am and sunset about 5:00 pm.
