Climbing In Cuba
In February of 2013, a group of seven from the USA and ten from Mexico traveled to Cuba. We were carried $1000 of new climbing gear for prizes for their national climbing competition and $1500 of gear for equipping routes. This video was shot during that trip. We are planning another trip in February of 2014; learn more below!
We are planning a return trip to Cuba in the second half of February 2014 to sponsor and participate in their National Competition at "Silla de Gibara" near Holguin which is in the eastern end of the country. The dates of the competition are Thursday, 2/20 to Monday, 2/24. We plan to arrive in Havana of February 18, travel to the competition, travel back to the western part of the country for climbing in "Valle of Vinales" and leave the country on February 28.
Under the USA trade embargo with Cuba it is illegal for Americans to travel to Cuba as tourists. However, a group under SRCFC can legally travel there if the main reason for being there is to fulfill our religious purpose. So, this trip will be open to all climbers who are Christians or climbers who want to learn more about Christianity.
