Gathering/Outreach Report
Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge,

Report written by Jeremy Higle

The event went great as far as meeting some new folks. We had only five show up but it was a good crew. Our Outreach didn't go as well with the intermittent bad weather which probably kept a lot of climbers at home. Saturday night and Sunday were rained out with a pretty good series of storms. But as it is with the first time you do something, it starts with a small dedicated group and the other four who attended I think will be. We are already talking about doing a fall trip and trying to increase attendance with haveing a regular meeting each fall and spring.

Having some digital cameras that we could hook up and show pics on my laptop was fun (couple photos attached). One thing that didn't work out as planned is that all of our outreach was focused on Sunday, with fellowship inside our group on Friday and Saturday. So outreach was basically rained out. Next time we will tweek the schedule so that we do not wait til the last day for outreach and evangelism.

Overall it turned out to be some bonding time for what I pray will be a core group that will be advocates for future events. Our oldest climber was 50 and the youngest 21 and we had a blast getting to know each other. The first steps are the hardest and we got the first on out of the way.
