April 18-20: Solid Rock Outreach Weekend in Bishop, CA Area
Area Contacts, Kevin and Stephanie Sapp, along with Kristin Anderson will be organizing a Solid Rock Outreach Weekend in Bishop, CA Area on April18-20. Kevin share the current plan is: “Friday night would be when all come into town. We would come together, eat, sing and get to know each other around the camp fire (at the “PIT” campground). I think it would be cool to have climbers at the Happy's, Sad's, Buttermilks, Central Owens Gorge, and Upper Owens Gorge. Those are the crags where we would run into the most people. We think it would be cool to travel, that night before bed, to those area's parking lots we plan on climbing at the next day and pray over the whole thing. Saturday would start with a quick morning devo and then off for some "on mission climbing"- inviting people we meet for dinner that night. We would like to end the dinner by inviting those who ate to be a part of a "Cross Circle" - where we would pose a question to the group (climbing related) and facilitate a discussion around the campfire for a while. I would summarize the discussion with a challenging, loving, and Christ-centered snapshot of the gospel and what it truly means to be a Christ-follower. Sunday would be a time of worship, prayer, and time in God's Word - then off for some more climbing and/or traveling.” Contact Kevin at ksapp84@yahoo.com for more info or to sign-up to be involved.
April 18-20: Red River Gorge Reunion Gathering/Outreach
When Area Contact, Sid Trogdon (sidtrog@aol.com), was at Red River Gorge last fall for the Rocktoberfest weekend, he put together a pancake breakfast for the climbers at Miguel's. Although it was a bit hastily arranged and accomplished by inexperienced amateurs, it went pretty well. Sid wants to improve on that “beginning” with another opportunity being April 18-20, 2008 during the Red River Gorge Reunion weekend (check www.rrgcc.org for more info). In his words, he is officially begging anyone who wants to shed the light of Christ's love among climbers at a pancake breakfast to join-in at least in prayer and contact him if you want to be part of the ministry team.

May 5th: 3rd Annual Day of Prayer for the Climbing Community:
On Thursday, May 5th, 2005 all Solid Rockers are invited to pray. Last year, we had over thirty Solid Rockers praying for 150
climbers by name. This happens the same day as the National Day of Prayer. Plan to join us this year!
For more info and to
sign-up for a thirty-minute prayer time! Our goal we can cover the day from sunrise to sunset.
May 20-22: New River Rendezvous
Aaron Shackelford is organizing Solid Rockers at the New River Rendezvous
The plan is to spread the Word and the word about SRCFC. NRG is not exactly close to anyone, so car pooling is planned. He has two ideas
for you to give input on: Idea 1: Service - Provide free coffee for climbers on Sunday morning after the all night party. Or we could even
do coffee both Saturday and Sunday morning. Idea 2: Give - If you read about this event you'll see that it is a fund raiser. Let's make it
possible for SRCFC to be a financial contributor to the fund rising. If each person gave a little, a sizeable amount could be given.
This will be an important action because it shows the climbers that Solid Rockers don't just care about our agenda but want to participate
in issues that concern the climbing community. Let's use this opportunity to be salt and light to the climbing community. Contact Aaron
(970-846-8936 or aron@rockchalk.net) if you plan on going and if you want to car pool. Aaron is the Director of Sales at Terra Firma Chalk,
a sponsor of SRCFC.
REVIEW>>>> May 20-22: Gathering at Sam’s Throne
Solid Rock member, Frederick Miller, is organized a Gathering at Sam’s Throne in Arkansas on May 20-22.
He reports the weekend had a rough start, but everyone had a good time of fellowship and unfortunately
lots of bug bites and ticks. He thanks Libby, Christian, Catherine, her best friend Page, his wife Diana, Will,
his friends Bo and Travis for making it a good time. And, special thanks go to Frederick for organizing the weekend.
REPORT by Steve Hughes>>>>June 4: Outreach Dinner in Yosemite
The Camp 4 Feed on June 4th was a great success! We feed about 50 or more climbers spaghetti, bread, cookies and Kool-aid. It was really encouraging how appreciative and friendly all the climbers were. Local CrossWay climbers volunteered to prepare and serve the meal. Several of the climbers being feed asked me, “Why do you guys do this?” I responded “We’re Solid Rock, a group of Christian Climbers, and we just want you to know that God cares for you and loves you and so do we as a group.”
We gave away some free gear in a drawing where Climbers had to fill out a card and answer these questions, “What is something good that Jesus said or did?” and “What is something Jesus said or did that was bad?” The people whose names were drawn to receive the free gear were very excited and appreciative. One guy who received a C4 #4 cam shared with us that he was going to give the cam to some Spaniard climbing friends who had just lost their #4 cam on a climb that day as a way to thank them for helping him out that week. During the gear give away, Chad a local Yosemite Solid Rocker, told everyone to come ask us any questions about God or spirituality if they wanted. Later that evening two Climbers approached Chad near the Yosemite Lodge and talked with Chad about the questions we asked. He had a chance then to share some of God’s truth with them. We pray that the climbers who attended received a positive message of God’s love for them and that Christian Climbers can be friendly and approachable.
Although I expected 3-4 Solid Rockers from out of the area to attend, none showed.
Traffic was horrible all weekend taking hours at times just to drive around Yosemite Valley due to road construction projects going on.
Perhaps that played a role. I’ve attached a few pictures for you also of the feed.

Whosoever can, please come. Bring some cookies to share. Please contact Roger for questions at kublyr@hotmail.com, 608 845 6410 or 608 628 2068.

11/25-27 Outreach - Smith Rock, Oregon >>> Connection to Banff
Andrew Lockrey is an Australian Solid Rocker who is coming to North America to work, ski and climb in the Banff area from the end of November to mid-February. He would like to be part of a Solid Rock event and learn more about what and how SRCFC creates its ministry. He arrives in San Francisco on Thanksgiving Day and will then be coming to Bend, OR. We are tentatively planning a Smith Rock Gathering/Outreach over the last part of the Thanksgiving weekend. After that weekend, he will then travel on to Banff to ice climb, ski and work. I’m wondering if any Solid Rockers might be interested in being part of an event at Smith or show him the Banff area ice climbing scene, please let us know. Also, although he could take a train/bus to get where he needs to, getting a ride with others would be helpful. Thanks for letting us know if that could be an option for you.
