Interested in a Mission/Climbing Trip to Cuba?
Over the last year, we have added members in Cuba and in dialogue with recently approved Cuba Chapter Coordinator, Maikel Rosabal Gómez (firstname.lastname@example.org), SRCFC is considering putting together a mission/climbing trip to Cuba. The timeframe is during January 2011. A Festival of Escalade in Viñales is scheduled for January 14-16, 2011. Maikel is friends with Cuba’s leading climber, Yarobys Martinez. You can learn more about the climbing and travel to Cuba at http://www.cubaclimbing.com/. One of the issues about traveling to Cuba is that Americans can’t travel directly there. So more than likely, we would coordinate with the Mexican Chapter and travel through Mexico, with a stop over for climbing and ministry in Mexico too. The tentative schedule (a second option being considered is before the Mexican Chapter Conference at the Petzl RocTrip – See Calendar) is leaving the USA on January 6th and returning to the USA on January 17th. Since this will be a mission trip, you will be able to raise funds through family and friends as a short-term missionary. Many details need to be worked out but we would like to hear from you if you have any interest in being on this trip. Please send an email to email@example.com and express your interest.
