Heights and Depths of Kyrgyzstan - Summer 2012

DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS TRIP HAS BEEN CANCELLED.  HE MAY TRY AGAIN IN 2013.

Amadeus DeKastle, SRCFC Member, is inviting Solid Rockers to join him in Kyrgyzstan (he lives there) this summer for climbing, caving and caring for others.  He writes, “We've been in contact with some people down in the city of Osh (where there was ethnic violence in 2010 and thousands lost their homes in fires) and it seems as though there will definitely be a chance for us to do some reconstruction, or at least some new construction for some poor families there.”

Tentative Itinerary

-  May / June - Putting up new routes at Chong Kurchak near Bishkek (this is the only developed climbing crag in Kyrgyzstan, but there is lots of untouched rock there)

- June 24 till 30- Aid work in Osh and sport / trad climbing on Sulayman's Mountain

- July 1 till 14 - Caving / Climbing / Trekking / Bouldering in Batken Oblast

- July 15 till August 4 - Peak Lenin summit attempt (one more spot on the team open)

There is flexibility as far as how many segments of the adventure you participate in.  Contact Amadeus (adekastle@teachbeyond.org) to learn more as there is quite about of other details that need to be hammered down!
