Eastern Washington Chapter
Coordinator: Clint & Caoimhe Dunn
Areas: Leavenworth, Peshastin Pinnacles North Bend/Exit 38, Little Si, Infinite Bliss, Lake Cle Elum, Salmon La Sac, Frenchman Coulee, Spokane and various locations.
CLIMBING EXPERIENCE: Together, with his wife Caoimhe, we have combined climbing experience of over 20 years. Most of Caoimhe’s experience is bouldering and beginner sport routes; 5.0 up 5.7, this past year she did her first 5.6 crack climb at Smith Rock, and had her first taste of Yosemite with a 5 pitch climb up to Lower Yosemite Falls. Clint started mountaineering in 1982, and have been rock climbing since 1984. In 1986, he took a month long Advanced Mountaineering Course in the Wind River Range in Wyoming from National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). He climbed as an occasional weekend climber until1990. I took 10 years off during, which time I felt God wanted me to focus on my relationship with Him. To sum up his presene experience, Clint wrote, "In 2000 I started climbing again more seriously. I can sport lead most any 5.10a. I can trad lead 5.9’s and some 10’s, and I can follow the same. I have climbed routes in Yosemite, most of the major peaks in Washington State, various routes at Smith Rock, and a variety of locations in and around the state; Leavenworth, Peshastin Pinnacles, and Frenchman Coulee are a few. I have training in belay, rappel, and enjoy teaching any who would like to learn."
SPIRITUAL JOURNEY: I came to Christ as a teenager when I felt like a failure, cried out to God, He heard my cry, and He changed my life. Although the journey over the past 32 years has been challenging I realise now that everything He ever asks us to do is always for our highest good. I am so grateful for all He has done for me. In 2010, He brought me my wife (who has been following Christ since 1994), and together we are committed to following Him and obeying His call on our lives; to make disciples of all men teaching them to keep Christ’s commands.
ADDITONAL THOUGHTS: As a follower of Christ I have a strong desire to see others experience and embrace Christ’s love and acceptance. While this is the case, I also feel a strong responsibility to teach others the importance of good stewardship of the creation with which God has blessed us. It is my intention to encourage and even require that attitude of those with whom I climb.
